Draft – pending legal review

Privacy notice

Last updated: 11 October 2026 (draft)

This notice explains, in plain words, what information MyRegista keeps about you, why we keep it, who can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

This is a draft. Our lawyers are still checking it, and it may change before it becomes final.

1. Who we are

MyRegista is run by [registered company name], [registered address], Nigeria (RC number: [RC number]). These details are still to be completed.

Your organisation (for example your cooperative, association or union) decides who its members are and what they pay. MyRegista keeps the records for them. For your membership records, your organisation and MyRegista both look after your information.

2. What we collect

  • Your name, phone number and email address (if you give one).
  • Your member number and which organisations you belong to.
  • Payments made in your name: amount, date, reference and receipt. This includes cash an officer records for you.
  • Your NIN (National Identification Number), only where your organisation or the law asks for it and only to check who you are.
  • Messages you send us, such as complaints or support requests.
  • Basic technical details when you use the app, such as the device and time you signed in, to keep your account safe.

3. Why we use it

  • To register you with your organisation and give you a member number.
  • To record what you owe and what you have paid, and to send you receipts.
  • To send you sign-in codes and important messages by text message or email.
  • To keep accounts safe and stop fraud.
  • To answer your questions and complaints.
  • To meet our legal duties, for example keeping financial records.

4. Our legal reasons

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act we may only use your information when we have a lawful reason. Ours are: to provide the service you or your organisation signed up for (a contract), to obey the law, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe. Where we need your consent, we will ask for it, and you can take it back at any time.

5. Who can see your information

We do not sell your information.

  • Officers of your own organisation, so they can manage members and payments. Other organisations cannot see your records.
  • Paystack, our payment company, when you pay online. We never see or keep your full card details.
  • Companies that send our text messages and emails, only to deliver them.
  • Our hosting provider, which keeps our computers running.
  • Government or the police, only when the law requires it.

6. Where it is kept

Your information may be stored on computers outside Nigeria. When that happens, we make sure it is protected as the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your records while you are a member and for as long as the law requires financial records to be kept after that (usually six years). After that we delete them or remove your name from them.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the information we keep about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information, where the law allows. Some payment records must be kept by law.
  • Stop using your information for a particular purpose.
  • Give you a copy of your information to take elsewhere.

To ask, email hello@myregista.com or talk to your organisation. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

9. Keeping it safe

We use sign-in codes, encrypted connections and limited staff access to protect your information. Never share your sign-in code with anyone, not even someone who says they work for MyRegista.

10. Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app for important changes.
